WINDER - More than 40 state and local law enforcement agents combed the streets of Barrow County Tuesday looking for drug dealers, and they arrested 29.

Barrow County Sheriff's Investigator Matt Guthas said a total of 40 arrest warrants were issued following a lengthy undercover investigation across the county. Eleven suspects remain at large.

"It appears to be a pretty successful day in terms of getting a lot of the drug dealers off the streets," said Guthas.

Guthas said undercover agents made a total of 80 undercover drug buys from 40 different dealers during the course of the investigation.

"Those charges for the individuals range from sale of marijuana to sale of controlled substances or prescription medications, sale of methamphetamine, sale of cocaine, etc.," said Guthas.

All of those arrested, including one juvenile, are from Barrow County. Guthas said this is one of the largest drug round-ups made in the county in recent years.
