CUMMING - Forsyth County property owners may soon see an increase on their tax bills to help pay for school system expenses.

At its last meeting Thursday night, the Forsyth County Board of Education recommended an increase in the school millage rate, rather than dip into reserve funds for paying bond debt and yearly operating expenses.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the increase would generate $7.7 million for the purpose of reducing debt on the bond and $9 million for operating expenses.

The vote on the rate hike is set for July 21.
