The grants are part of $24 million handed out nationwide to 62 colleges by the U.S. Department of Education. The money will go to boost the number of black students in fields where they are underrepresented, tutoring for struggling students, counseling services, upgrading libraries and labs and improving teacher education programs.
It will also focus on improving educational outcomes for black male students.
Recipients in Georgia include 14 technical colleges across the state, as well as the two-year Georgia Perimeter College.
