Hall Co. jailer charged with transaction card fraud

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Hall County jailer has resigned from his job after he was arrested Wednesday for transaction card fraud in Gwinnett County.

Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said HCSO was contacted by the Lawrenceville Police Department about charges against Ben Thompson, 55.

"There were three individual warrants issued for transaction card fraud," said Wilbanks. "I don't have any specifics regarding the charges themselves.

He said that Thompson had been employed by Hall County since August 2007.

The Lawrencville Police Department will handle the case from this point.
