Lt. Todd Maloney, in an investigative report, admitted to having an affair with a woman who was on probation. She apparently exchanged sex for information on her criminal record.
Forsyth Sheriff's Capt. Tim House said Maloney was suspended for 120 hours and assigned to duty at the county jail.
"He was charged with conduct unbecoming an officer on and off duty, neglect of duty and professional image," said House.
Maloney, 40, is reported to have worked for the sheriff's department since 1998.
