OAKWOOD - Oakwood police have arrested a woman they think may be responsible for a series of wallet thefts across Gwinnett and Hall counties.

Oakwood Police Investigator Danny Sridej said 47-year-old Teresa Lynn Owens was arrested Wednesday when she tried to use stolen credit cards at the Quik Trip on Mundy Mill Road.

Sridej said the credit cards Owens used belonged to a victim in Gwinnett County who had her wallet stolen this past weekend.

Sridej says he believes it is likely Owens has stolen a number of wallets and purses from businesses, schools and churches in both Hall and Gwinnett. He said the suspect would visit those locations and find wallets and purses left in plain view, pick them up and leave the premises quickly. He said Owens would then use the stolen credit cards quickly before the owner realized the cards were missing.

As of Wednesday, Owens faces two counts of financial transaction card fraud. Sridej said he believes there are other victims, however, and he asks anyone who recognizes Owens to call investigators with information.
