GAINESVILLE - Residents in Hall County are being asked to wear green and white clothing on Friday in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Investigator Christy Van Scoten, official Hall County agencies and organizations have already been asked to join the pledge, and now the request is being extended to anyone who would like to show their support for the victims of the tragedy.

Green and white are the official school colors of Sandy Hook, and aside from asking people to wear corresponding colors on Friday, Van Scoten said that ribbons are also being produced in the colors so that individuals could voice their support in more than one way.

"So far, I've had people e-mailing and calling all day wanting the ribbons that we're putting together, and right now we have over 400 people who are asking for those," Van Scoten said Thursday afternoon.

Community members are being asked to send photographs of themselves or others wearing Sandy Hook's colors to [email protected], where they will be collected and arranged into a collage that will sent to Newtown, CT as a show of support.
