MARIETTA - A former Marine who was found unconscious in a parking lot in Cobb County late last month has died.

Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police said 34-year-old Zach Gamble was taken off life support Sunday afternoon. The Marine who served two tours in Iraq never regained consciousness after he received severe head injuries at a March 25 party in a Cobb County apartment complex.

Authorities will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Gamble was discovered after a taxi driver accidentally struck him in parking lot of the complex, but police say they believe the victim's most severe injuries were caused prior to that. Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
