Green named new Jackson Co. Schools chief

JEFFERSON - A high school principal from Madison, Alabama has been selected as the new school superitendent for the Jackson County School System.

Dr. John Green has ties to the north Georgia area, since he previously served as Assistant Superintendent for the Gwinnett County Schools. He also served at one time as principal at North Gwinnett High School. Green also was Associate Principal of Brookwood High, Assistant Principal of Berkmar High, and teacher and coach at Meadowcreek High, all in Gwinnett County. He also taught and coached at Tucker High School in DeKalb County.

Information on the Jackson County School Board web site said that
Dr. Green has a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia, a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

The Jackson County School Board met in special session Thursday and announced Green's selection just prior to graduation ceremonies at Jackson County Comprehensive High School.

Green and Dale Gaddis, Area Assistant Superintendent of the Cobb County schools, were finalists for the position.

Green assumes his duties upon the retirement of Dr. Shannon Adams on June 29.
