That all changes this evening when Adams arrives at Lee Gilmer Airport in Gainesville. LCpl. Adams will be greeted by members of his family, of course, but the Patriot Guard Riders will also be there to escort him to his home just off Brown's Bridge Road.
In addition to the Patriot Guard Riders, units from local law enforcement are expected to join the escort.
Adams' plane is expected to land at Gainesville's Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Traffic will be interrupted for a short time as the motorcade moves down Queen City Parkway and then left on Brown's Bridge Road.
Adams lost both legs and suffered other injuries when he stepped on an IED on February 10 while he was on patrol in Afghanistan.
Adams is also set to serve as a grand marshal in Monday's Memorial Day parade in Gainesville.
