Sheriff's department officials reported there were injuries, and at least one person was trapped in the wreckage. A helicopter was called to fly at least one patient from the scene.
The wreck came early in the commute. Traffic woes continued into the 6:00 p.m. hour as motorists were making their way home or out and about for holiday weekend activities.
