Buford athlete dies days after collapse at practice

BUFORD - The Buford sports and school community is dealing with the death of a varsity basketball player over the weekend.

Authorities said Adam Smith, 16, died Sunday night at Northside Hospital-Forsyth.

Smith, a junior, collapsed at a preseason practice Thursday afternoon. According to the report, Smith had been running when he told a teacher he didn't feel well. He collapsed moments later.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens.
