Suspect arrested in Auburn arson

AUBURN - Authorities have arrested one person in connection with a fire at a vacant mobile home in Barrow County on Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire at 112 Ethridge Road in Auburn around 2 p.m. Saturday.

"Firefighters found two rooms of a vacant trailer with heavy fire showing," said Battalion Chief Mike Stoops. "We made an aggressive interior attack and were able to quickly bring the fire under control."

Investigators said the mobile home was vacant; they were able to determine the blaze was intentionally set.

An Auburn police officer responded to the scene and stopped a suspicious person in the area, according to investigators. They said after they questioned the person, they made an arrest in the case.

At this time, the identity of the suspect has not been released; Auburn police have not said what the motive might have been in the arson.
