ATLANTA (AP) The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced warrants have been issued for nearly 100 people suspected of distributing child pornography over the Internet.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead says the three-month investigation involved 47 federal, state, and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.

Bankhead says the investigation was an effort of the GBI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to respond to increasing numbers of children and teens using the Internet, an increase in the availability of child pornography, and an upswing in the number of predators trolling the Internet for victims.

Bankhead says the investigation, titled "Operation Guarding Innocence," was the largest of its kind to be executed in Georgia. Since it was established in 2002, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has made 976 arrests in Georgia.
