UNDATED - Forecasters said two tornadoes touched down in Georgia during a recent storm system, damaging homes in western and north Georgia.

The National Weather Service says an EF-0 tornado with maximum winds of 85 mph touched down just south of Interstate 20 in Haralson County around 6:20 p.m. on April 11. It snapped and uprooted several dozen trees and caused roof damage to some homes.

Later, around 9:20 p.m. on April 11, a second tornado left a damage path of 250 yards at some points as it traveled just over four miles through parts of Lumpkin and Hall counties. The EF-1 tornado snapped and uprooted trees that fell onto homes. Twelve homes were damaged on Bridgestone Way, with two of them destroyed by trees.

Assistant Hall County Administrator Marty Nix praised the Hall County employees who were first responders on the scene at the Hall-Lumpkin County line Thursday night.

"I talked to several of the neighbors and each one of them stated that it happened very fast and was over before they could really take any action," Nix said. "They expressed thanks for our first responders who made sure all was okay and the roads were cleared."

Kimbrell said other areas of Hall County that sustained damage Thursday night included Reece Mobile Home Park, Timber Creek Trail in North Hall, Thompson Bridge Road at Springview Drive, Crawford Oaks Drive, Thousand Oaks Drive, and Harmony Church Road.

No one was hurt in either of the twisters that hit Thursday night.
