Gas leak contained at Hwy. 124 and Hwy. 211 in Barrow County

WINDER - It took nearly three hours to contain a gas leak on Highway 124 in Barrow County near the Jackson County line Thursday morning.

Barrow County Fire Dept. Lt. Scott Dakin said a construction crew hit the gas line just before 7 a.m., forcing the closure of the roadways and prompting the evacuation of businesses in the area.

No one was hurt, according to Dakin.

The gas leak was contained by 10 a.m.
