Collins to hold first town hall meetings as part of District Work Week

UNDATED - Ninth District Congressman Doug Collins of Gainesville will be home next week, hosting his first town hall meetings since taking office in January.

During the District Work Week, Collins has scheduled a town hall meeting at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville on Monday, April 29 from 6- 7:30 p.m. The fresham Republican will hold a second town hall meeting Wednesday, May 1 at the North Georgia Community Center in Ellijay; that meeting is schedule for 5-6:30 p.m.

Town hall meetings give constituents the chance to ask specific questions related to legislative action in Washington. Constituents also have the opportunity to offer feedback to the Congressman on his first four months in office.

Other events scheduled for the week include:

-A roundtable discussion with representatives of the poultry industry in the district on Wednesday, May 1. Industry leaders will have the opportunity to discuss with Collins their concerns about federal agricultural regulations. That meeting takes place in Gainesville.

-Another event in the congressman's series of Firearms Safety Programs. The Saturday, May 4 event will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Rabun County.
