DAHLONEGA - Expectant mothers in the Lumpkin County area who had planned to use Chestatee Regional Hospital for labor and delivery will have to find another hospital for those services.

In a press statement, the hospital announced labor and delivery services will be suspended as of midnight April 30.

However, pregnant women who find themselves in emergency situations can still rely on the Dahlonega hospital if needed. "All ER doctors are trained to deliver babies and can do it," assured CEO Jason Cox.

Chestatee Regional will also continue to offer pre-natal and other gynecological services to women in the community. "We're doing all the prenatal stuff we did before: ultrasounds, any and all lab tests, holter monitoring, anything an expectant mom could need for prenatal care," said Cox.

Cox says pregnant patients who had planned to use Chestatee for labor and delivery have been transitioned to other hospitals.
