Troopers were called to Old Dahlonega Highway at Old Whelchel Road at 6:49 a.m. Thursday.
They said they found a Toyota Tocoma pickup truck that apparently had left the roadway in a curve and hit several trees, a fence and then another tree before coming to a stop.
The driver, identified as Patrick Parks, died at the scene.
Trooper said there was no one else in the vehicle.
They said it is possible the accident occurred overnight and was not discovered until Thursday morning.
