LULA - An event that has raised more than $50,000 over the past three years for soldiers and their families is ready for the 2013 celebration at Rafe Banks Park.

The "Some Gave All" 5K/Fun Run/Tot Trot was created as a way to memorialize Mjr. Kevin Jenrette of Lula, who was killed with two other Georgia soldiers in Afghanistan on June 4, 2009. His wife, Shannon, along with other family members and friends wanted to create a way to remember the fallen officer, and at the same time, assist other soldiers.

All proceeds from the 4th Annual Some Gave All Family & Community Event will go to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc., a non-profit charitable corporation established in 1994 for the primary purpose of providing assistance on an emergency relief basis to soldiers and airmen serving in the Georgia National Guard and other qualified military members living in the State of Georgia.

In addition to the race events, military equipment and vehicles will be on display for participants to see, veterans will be able to socialize at a special veterans' tent and special activities will be available for children.

Race registration begins at 5 p.m. at Rafe Banks Park on Athens Street in Lula.
