ATLANTA (AP) The Coca-Cola Foundation is pledging $3.8 million to support statewide initiatives aimed at boosting fitness and health.

Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent announced the gift at an event Wednesday in Atlanta with Gov. Nathan Deal and Mayor Kasim Reed.

The funds will be directed toward programs including Georgia SHAPE and Walk Georgia.

Georgia SHAPE is an initiative by Deal to address childhood obesity. Walk Georgia was created by the University of Georgia's Cooperative Extension and focuses on community-oriented physical activity programs.

Coca-Cola on Wednesday also announced a commitment to offering low or no calorie options and a promise not to advertise to children under 12.
