White County graduates 100th class

CLEVELAND - With a cool breeze punctuating the evening Friday, the White County High School Class of 2013 walked proudly across the platform on the football field to receive their diplomas.

It was the 100th graduating class for the school, and 264 student received their diplomas, including one student who was thousands of miles away.

Senior Caleb Anderson spent his senior year studying in Germany. He participated in the ceremony with the technology of Facetime.

Class Salutatorian Cassie Carter talked about the past four years, saying, "The past four years have been filled with major triumphs such as the girls' softball team winning state, the marching band finally getting superior rating at festival, and the basketball team and the basketball girls' team making playoffs."

Valedictorian Patrick Morgan, in has address, talked about the class' determination

"Over the past few years, I have had the distinct honor of be a part of a class that has learned to overcome every obstacle that came our way, from getting lost in the woods when Mr. Dalton gave us the wrong GPS coordinates, to all trying to get to school on time when all the roads in White County were frozen over, our class has proven we have the determination to overcome everything life throws at us," Morgan said.

Principal John Osborne presented diplomas to the seniors, who were congratulated by Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson.

The ceremony was capped with a spraying of confetti over the graduates, as they tossed their caps in the air.
