GAINESVILLE - It took nearly four days, but the Georgia State Patrol said they now know the name of the man critically injured in a crash between his bicycle and a car in Gillsville on Sunday.

Investigators said it wasn't until Wednesday that hospital staff identified 48-year-old Jeffrey Scott Carr of Gillsville. They told authorities they used a fingerprinting databank and were able to notify his brother, who lives out of state.

Carr was critically injured as he was riding a bicycle on Bryant Quarter Road around 10:30 Sunday morning. He crashed into the passenger side door of a vehicle that was trying to pull around him. The driver of the vehicle stopped to help Carr, and troopers said he was not at fault in the crash.

The State Patrol said Carr was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Carr remains in critical condition at Grady Hospital.
