HIAWASSEE - The body pulled from a well Thursday east of Hiawassee is that of a 53-year-old woman who had been reported missing on June 24, according to the latest information released by the Towns County Sheriff's Office.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation relayed to Towns County authorities late Friday that they used dental records and other identification techniques to confirm the identity of Diane Dee Dee Adams Donaldson. Donaldson was reported missing by family members on June 24, and Towns County investigators said they followed a number of leads in the case, conducting interviews in both Georgia and Florida.

The remains were discovered in the abandoned well east of Hiawassee Wednesday. The remains were not pulled from the well until around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Two Hiawassee women, Brittany Elizabeth Ledford and Rebecca Ann Stokes, are charged with malice murder in connection with Donaldson's death. Both were in the Towns County Detention Center on other charges and, according to an earlier press release, had confessed to the crime.

Towns County authorities said other charges are pending in the case.
