LILBURN - Police have identified the two victims of a Thursday night hit and run accident on Lawrenceville Highway as Maria Alicia Cervantes Maldonado, 36, and her daughter Melissa Paola Cervantes, 6.

Investigators with the Lilburn Police Department said the two were walking along a sidewalk on Lawrenceville Highway just after 6:30 p.m. when they were struck by a pickup truck driven by Spencer T. Prigmore, 43 of Lilburn.

Witnesses told investigators Prigmore and a passenger were traveling southbound on Lawrenceville Highway when his vehicle left the roadway and ran up on the sidewalk, striking the mother and daughter. Prigmore left the scene of the accident, but was found a short distance away from the accident scene.

Police said at the time they were found, both the suspect and his passenger appeared to be intoxicated and were unable to communicate with investigators.

Investigators said Prigmore refused to undergo any sort of tests to determine blood alcohol level, so they were forced to obtain a search warrant to obtain a blood sample.

Prigmore faces charges of reckless driving, DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide
