GAINESVILLE - It was a wash-out on the Fourth of July, but Hall County government officials are hoping the weather will cooperate on Labor Day for the annual fireworks extravaganza at Laurel Park.

Just as the Fourth of July event does, the Labor Day event will serve as a fundraiser for the American Legion Paul E. Bolding Post 7. Hall County Parks and Leisure, Sheriff's Office, Fire Services, Public Works, Public Safety and the Correctional Institution donate services each year to support this longstanding tradition.

Gates open at 9 a.m. Monday, September 2. Parking is $5 per vehicle.

Even though the fireworks don't take place until dusk, the county has plenty of activities to keep families busy during the day. Visitors can enjoy Laurel Park's sports facilities, playground, spray ground, dog park and views of Lake Lanier. North Georgia Boy Scouts will sell snow cones, hot dogs and other concessions.

Laurel Park is located at 3100 Old Cleveland Highway in Gainesville.
