TOCCOA - A small plane incident at Toccoa's LeTourneau Field resulted in minor injuries Thursday night.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley provided preliminary details.

"Two men sustained minor injuries after the plane they were piloting made a hard landing that may have caused the landing gear to collapse," Shirley said.

Fire, medical and law enforcement personnel were called to the incident on the Toccoa end of the airport runway during the 6 p.m. hour.

Shirley said the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the incident, and FAA officials authorized the plane to be removed from the end of the runway to an enclosed hangar for inspection.

The two men who were hurt walked away from the plane under their own power and declined transport by ambulance.

A witness who was at the airport but didn't see the actual hard landing said the plane was attempting a second touch-and-go landing at the time of the incident.
