BRASELTON - Downtown Braselton is hosting a town hall meeting next Thursday to showcase features and programs with community members.

The meeting will take place in the Community Room of the Police and Municipal Court Facility building at 6 p.m. on October 9.

"It's actually a requirement by the Georgia Main Street start-up program," said Amy Pinnell, Downtown Director. "We've got a whole work plan we've been given for all year, and one of our requirements is to hold a community town hall meeting."

Pinnell said the town is on track to receive its Main Street designation by the end of the year.

But Pinnell said they didn't want it to be a typical town hall meeting. Instead, organizers will feature several stations so community members can get to know the programs and features of downtown Braselton.

"We want it to be a lot of fun and informal and informational," said Pinnell. "We're going to set up little stations around our community room, so you can come and go as you like, spend as much time as you want at each of the stations and grab information and ask questions."

The five stations include an introduction to the Main Street program, meet the Board, the Downtown District, community input and getting involved.

"My goal is that it's going to be fun, interactive, not what I think of as a typical town hall meeting where you come in, take a chair, sit and listen to people and maybe you have an opportunity to ask a question," Pinnell said. "I really want this to be more fun and visual... we want to kick it up a notch and do things a little bit differently."

Pinnell also said that pizza and soft drinks will be provided, since the meeting is during the dinner hour.
