Union County moved in, Lanier moved up and North Gwinnett moved out of the latest Georgia Sports Writers Association prep football poll, released on Tuesday.

The Panthers made their first appearance in the Class AA rankings after moving to 6-0, 2-0 in Region 8-AA via a 46-0 defeat of Oglethorpe County and are tied for 10th. Union County travels to Greene County, which knocked off previously-sixth-ranked Washington-Wilkes last week, on Friday.

In Class AAAAA, Lanier will play host to Gainesville as the No. 8 team after moving up two spots from 10th. The Longhorns (5-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) had a bye last week, while the Red Elephants (4-1, 4-0) defeated Salem 29-6. Gainesville received three votes in the latest rankings.

North Gwinnett also fell out of the Class AAAAAA top 10 after a hard-fought 17-10 loss to No. 7 Norcross last week. The Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1 Region 7-AAAAAA) will travel to Peachtree Ridge in a huge showdown on Friday.

The other two northeast Georgia squads already in the top 10 maintained their respective spots -- as Buford stayed No. 1 in Class AAAA and Jefferson remained fourth in Class AAA. The Wolves (5-0, 2-0 Region 8-AAAA) defeated Chestatee 54-7 last week and will play host to North Hall (0-5, 0-2) on Friday. Meanwhile, Jefferson (6-0, 2-0 Region 8-AAA) defeated Elbert County 52-6 last week and will travel to Morgan County (3-2, 1-0) this week.
