Lumpkin County stays perfect in 7-AAA with 34-20 win

BLUE RIDGE -- Lumpkin County's punishing ground game claimed another scalp and another Region 7-AAA victory on Friday, as the Indians rushed for 441 yards en route to a 34-20 win over Fannin County in Blue Ridge.<br />

Quarterback Zach Matthews led the Lumpkin County charge, rushing 18 times for 302 yards and four touchdowns -- including scoring bursts of 81, 86 and 63 yards.<br />

Bradley Wommack also added 97 yards on 15 carries for the Indians (4-3, 3-0 Region 7-AAA), who stayed tied for first in 7-AAA.<br />
<br />
Fannin County put up plenty of yards of its own, as quarterback Brad Davis completed 18 of 40 passes for 266 yards. Cooper Earls led all receivers with 7 receptions for 68 yards, but Lumpkin County also picked off two passes. <br />
<br />
Tyler Beaver also carried 16 times for 91 yards for the Rebels (3-3, 1-1), who rushed for 117 yards as a team.<br />

Fannin County travels to Dawson County next week.<br />

Lumpkin County plays host to Banks County next week.
