20th case of rabies confirmed in Hall Co. for 2014

GAINESVILLE - Once again, Hall County is dealing with a case of rabies in a wild animal.<br />
<br />
Hall County Animal Services officials said Monday a rabid raccoon had contact with two dogs in the Hiawatha - Seminole Drive area in north Hall County late last week. State officials confirmed the positive rabies test on Friday.<br />
<br />
This case is the 20th confirmed case in Hall County for the year.<br />
<br />
Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was located. Resident who live in the area who you see an animal acting abnormally in the area, are asked to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.<br />
<br />
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road, Gainesville.
