Hall Co. reports 21st confirmed rabies case for 2014

LULA - Another rabies case has been confirmed for Hall County, and Animal Services officials say it's the 21st confirmed case of the year.<br />

This time a rabid skunk came into contact with three dogs on Southern Magnolia Lane in northeastern Hall County. The skunk was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur, and Hall County officials received confirmation of the positive rabies test Thursday.<br />

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid skunk was located. If anyone sees an animal acting abnormally in the area, they are asked to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.<br />
<br />
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road, Gainesville.
