DAHLONEGA -- Lumpkin County has run through just about everyone this season -- now the Indians have a chance to run away with a region title next week.
Lumpkin County pulled away from Dawson County for a 42-19 win on Friday in Dahlonega -- setting up a Region 7-AAA showdown between the Indians and West Hall next week in Oakwood.

You can be certain Lumpkin County (5-4, 4-1 Region 7-AAA) will stick to the formula that has served it well all season and again on Friday, as the Indians rushed for 437 yards in the win over the Tigers.

Quarterback Zach Matthews rushed 14 times for 139 yards and four touchdowns, while Gunner Wood put up 179 yards on 21 carries, Bradley Wommack also added 75 yards and a score, while Cole White added 41 yards on the ground.

Wommack also had two interceptions in the win. And while Dawson County rolled up 453 total yards -- 256 of that through the air -- the Tigers found tough going near the end zone, as Lumpkin County built a 28-6 halftime advantage.
Dawson County (1-8, 1-5) will wrap the regular season next week against Johnson.
