Area teams hold in latest prep football rankings

North Gwinnett jumped two spots, while Lanier, Buford and Jefferson each maintained their previous positions in latest Georgia Sports Writers Association Prep Football Poll, released Tuesday.<br /> <br /> The Bulldogs climbed to No. 5 in Class AAAAAA after a 50-6 win over Meadowcreek moved North Gwinnett (7-2, 5-1 Region 7-AAAAAA) one win away from a Region 7-AAAAAA title. The Bulldogs play host to Mountain View on Friday.<br /> <br /> Lanier stayed sixth in Class AAAAA after clinching the Region 8-AAAAA title -- the Longhorns first region crown -- with a 21-10 win over Winder-Barrow. Lanier (9-0, 8-0 Region 8-AAAAA) will travel to Apalachee on Friday.<br /> <br /> Buford is still No. 1 in Class AAAA after a 44-0 defeat of Madison County last week. The Wolves (9-0, 6-0 Region 8-AAAA) will travel to Stephens County on Friday, where a win would clinch the 8-AAAA crown.<br /> <br /> Jefferson, meanwhile, is still fourth in Class AAA after a 28-16 win over Oconee County last week.
