BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Airline officials say a cracked windshield prompted the unscheduled landing of a passenger jet in Birmingham, Alabama.

ExpressJet spokesman Jarek Beem tells Al.com the plane carrying 20 passengers departed Atlanta and was headed for Tulsa, Oklahoma but landed at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport on Saturday morning.

Beem says passengers were put on a replacement plane that was sent from Atlanta.

Beem says it's unclear what caused the plane's windshield to crack but says it was probably something the happened while the plane was in flight.

ExpressJet is a regional airline headquartered in Atlanta and serves more than 190 airport in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
