Crews work to clear storm damage, restore power in Ga.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia Power reports that fewer than 300 of its customers remain without power after severe storms crossed the state Sunday evening.<br />
<br />
The utility company said more than 12,200 customers had lost service when the storms struck Sunday afternoon and evening.<br />
<br />
By early Monday morning, most of the remaining outages were in the Lumpkin area south of Columbus and in the Augusta area.<br />
<br />
Crews were also cleaning up damage Monday morning in several counties.<br />
<br />
In Upson County, emergency management officials reported that several homes in the Thomaston area were badly damaged.<br />
<br />
In Lamar County, WSB-TV reports that heavy winds brought down the roof of a public works building.<br />
<br />
Emergency officials also reported to the National Weather Service that trees and power line were down in Bibb, Bleckley, Monroe, Pulaski, Telfair and Wilkinson counties.
