Gainesville surgeon achieves milestone

GAINESVILLE - Dr. Brent Sharpe, MD of Northeast Georgia Urological Associates recently completed his 500th successful robotic surgical procedure at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. <br /> <br /> According to a press statement, Dr. Sharpe has used minimally invasive robotic procedures for more than seven years to increase the surgical outcome of his patients, while lessening the recovery and complication rate of surgical patients. Dr. Sharpe said ith robotic surgery, a patient's recovery time may be reduced by more than 50%. He has performed robotic surgery on patients ranging from the teenage years to octogenarians throughout the Southeast for both benign and cancerous reasons.<br /> <br /> Dr. Sharpe is also the area's only robotic surgical instructor for Intuitive Surgical, which is based in Sunnnyvale, Ca.<br />
