Bibb Co.sheriff seeks funding for 100 body cameras

MACON, Ga. (AP) The sheriff in a highly populated Georgia county is seeking funding for 100 body cameras for his deputies. <br /> <br /> The Telegraph reports that Bibb County Sheriff David Davis is seeking funding for 100 cameras in the fiscal 2016 budget, which would take effect in July. <br /> <br /> Davis said he thinks cameras can be a valuable tool, but he also wants to develop a sound policy for their use and evaluate the types of cameras on the market. <br /> <br /> Other Georgia departments using or considering body cameras include police in Powder Springs and Gainesville and the Hall County Sheriff's Office. <br /> <br /> The Telegraph reports that the Houston County Sheriff's Office has been researching the cameras, and Warner Robins police have been testing them for school resource officers. <br />
