Gainesville Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook confirmed Sunday that Espino was the driver of a passenger car that pulled into the path of an SUV at the intersection of Athens Highway and Wilson Drive around 7 p.m. Friday.
The driver of the SUV and a child passenger were hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Holbrook said their injuries were not life-threatening.
A spokesman for Memorial Park Funeral Home said funeral services for Espino are planned for this week at St. Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville.
