Schools Superintendent Merrianne Dyer said the full calendar next year will be a big help for teachers.
"During our time of reduced calendar, they've had to do professional learning and training in the afternoons and evenings after a regular work day...it's just not as effective," said Dyer.
Governor Deal has proposed an increase of $547 million in education funding for the upcoming fiscal year, allowing for restoration of state funds to local school districts.
Dyer said the 2014-15 calendar closely aligns with Hall County's calendar, although Gainesville students will return to class on August 7, while Hall County students go back to school on August 8.
