DALTON, Ga. (AP) -- Dalton police say an industrial area on the city's northwest side has been deemed safe after a chemical leak injured one person and prompted road closures Monday morning.

Police said the leak happened at the MFG Chemical Inc. plant on Kimberly Park Drive, near Interstate 75 and the north Dalton bypass.

Police said one person was exposed to the chemical and was being taken to a hospital in Augusta.

A Dalton Fire Department report said an unsecured lid on a reactor vessel at the plant led to a chemical vapor release. Police said the chemical is "not poisonous" but is an irritant if it's inhaled.
Police said Kimberly Park Drive, Willowdale Road, and Crow Valley Road were closed for a time but had reopened by 8:40 a.m.
