CUMMING - A Forsyth County fugitive who was caught in Guadalajara, Mexico last week apparently had been teaching English at a school and at a hospital.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater, authorities began to search for Kenneth Dustin Grant right after he failed to appear in court on child molestation charges in 2010. Rainwater said they always suspected he had fled to Mexico. In fact, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office had received several tips from people saying they had seen Grant.

"The problem is, since he was in a different country, we just couldn't drive a car down the road and check these locations, so by the time we actually had somebody on the ground to verify whether or not he was at this address in Mexico, naturally he was gone," said Rainwater.

That changed this past Thursday, however, when the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office developed new leads on Grant's whereabouts.

"We were able to, through the U.S. Marshal's Service, send one of our deputies with them into Mexico...and we actually went to an old address...and sure enough, he was there," said Rainwater.

At that point, Grant was transported from Mexico to Los Angeles, California. Rainwater said the suspect has a court hearing Tuesday and should be returned to Georgia within several days.

The case against Grant began in November 2008 when the suspect had a friend's teenage daughter babysit his young children. Authorities believe Grant drugged and assaulted the teenage girl, while photographing the incident. During the investigation of that incident, photographs of a similar assault on the teenage girl's older sister and photographs of other young girls were discovered, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Grant was indicted in October 2009 and posted a $75,000 bond in January 2010. Grant failed to show up for a court hearing in September 2010. His ankle monitor was located in Lake Lanier with signs that it had been tampered with.
