Dawson County sheriff's Maj. Ray Goodie has said that one of them has been hit multiple times. He estimates the thefts have totaled more than $40,000.

Goodie said his department is working with nearby Lumpkin County on the cases, since churches in that county have also been burglarized.

Lumpkin County authorities recently made two arrests in connection with church break-ins in their county.
