ATLANTA (AP) A Georgia congressman says he's traveling to Israel to learn more about U.S.-Israel relations and to discuss the situation in Gaza.
Republican Rep. Tom Graves said in a statement Tuesday that he's traveling to Israel this week with other members of congress and plans to meet with leaders including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Aside from discussing the situation in Gaza, Graves says the delegation is planning talks on economic issues including the operation of Israel's major ports.

Graves, who represents northwest Georgia, says he sponsored a House bill last week to provide funding for Israel's Iron Dome defense system. Graves says he's interested in learning more about the country's counterterrorism techniques and its approach to border security.
Graves says the trip is being funded by the American Israel Education Foundation.
