ATLANTA (AP) Authorities have told a broadcast outlet that high winds overturned at least four small planes and damaged several others at a regional airport near Atlanta when strong weekend storms raked the region.
Fire Chief Bill Lacy in Henry County told WSB-TV of Atlanta that nearly a dozen planes have been damaged and four were overturned at Tara Field, also known as the Atlanta South Regional Airport. The report says emergency officials were on the scene at the airport south of Atlanta, along with National Weather Service authorities.
There were no reports of any injuries. The report quoted one official as saying one plane was moved nearly 100 yards by the wind.
Calls to Henry County fire and sheriff's offices by The Associated Press were not immediately answered.
