GAINESVILLE - At a meeting Thursday morning, Hall County Commissioners unanimously approved replacing the defective ladder truck involved in a training accident that injured three Hall County firefighters in July.

Acting Fire Chief Jeff Hood said in his request for the ladder truck's funding that ISO requirements and ratings are contingent upon having an aerial platform apparatus that can provide an elevated water stream and perform rescue-for-life functions.

ISO (Insurance Services Office) ratings are used to determine homeowner insurance costs.

Hood said the loss of Truck 16 depleted the fleet of its only aerial platform apparatus and that the County was facing ISO evaluations in October.

The resolution explained that the $979,927 needed for the purchase, despite not being in the current budget, would come from contingency funds and SPLOST revenues.
