GAINESVILLE - The Arts Council, which has hosted several concerts featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, is not scheduling the group's next performance in Gainesville until a contract dispute involving the musicians is settled.

The dispute has led the ASO to cancel all scheduled concerts through Nov. 8. (See earlier story. Link below.)

Arts Council Executive Director Gladys Wyant says she discussed the matter with the orchestra's general manager a few days ago.

"Our concert will either be in June or July of 2015," Wyant said, "depending on negotiations. Julie Fish, general manager of the ASO, did intimate that all touring fees will be increased, so we will need to wait and see if it is still feasible as it takes so much more than ticket revenue to cover our cost."

Wyant added that corporate and individual sponsors are needed to cover the cost of bringing the group to Gainesville again "as well as most of the outstanding performers that we present."

"We are hopeful that negotiations go well and this important organization continues to provide world class orchestral music for our communities."

(The Associated Press contributed to this story.)
