Cherokee Co. boy hospitalized after lawnmower accident

BALL GROUND, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a 5-year-old boy is hospitalized with severe injuries after his father accidentally ran over him with a riding lawnmower. <br /> <br /> The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday in Ball Ground, a Cherokee County community about 50 miles north of Atlanta. <br /> <br /> Cherokee County Fire Department spokesman Tim Cavender said the father was backing the mower up when the child walked behind it and was knocked down. <br /> <br /> Cavender tells CBS 46 that the boy suffered injuries to his legs, fingers, toes and an arm, but fortunately none of his major arteries were cut. <br /> <br /> He was conscious, breathing and talking to emergency workers when he was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. <br />
