GAINESVILLE - A Flowery Branch woman is hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, battling a flesh-eating bacteria.
Tamika Compton's family members have set up an online fundraising site for the 25-year-old. A post to the GoFundMe.com site said Compton has already lost large portions of one of her arms to the disease.
A hospital spokeswoman said Monday afternoon that Compton is reported to be in fair condition.
There is no word where Compton might have picked up the bacteria.
In May 2012, Aimee Copeland of Snellville lost both hands, her right foot and her entire left leg to flesh-eating bacteria. Copeland became infected when she cut her leg on a zip-lining excursion in west Georgia.
