Four area programs hold in latest prep football rankings

Buford, Jefferson, Lanier and North Gwinnett each maintained their spots in the latest Georgia Sports Writers Association Prep Football Poll, released Tuesday.<br /> <br /> The Wolves are No. 1 in Class AAAA and will get back to action on Friday after playing just one game in three weeks thanks to two byes. Buford (4-0, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) travels to face Chestatee (1-3, 0-1) on Friday.<br /> <br /> In Class AAA, Jefferson sits at No. 4 following a 34-7 defeat of Jackson County. The Dragons (5-0, 1-0 Region 8-AAA) will play host to Elbert County (3-2, 0-1) on Friday.<br /> <br /> Lanier held its place at No. 10 in Class AAAAA after maintaining its spotless record last week courtesy a 28-14 win at Loganville. The Longhorns (5-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) will take a bye this week before hosting Gainesville (3-1, 3-0) on Oct. 10.<br /> <br /> And North Gwinnett is sixth in Class AAAAAA following a back-and-forth victory over Mill Creek, 51-41.
